Philippine Military to Hold Anti-invasion Drills in Northern Luzon, South China Sea

Philippine forces will hold anti-invasion drills across Northern Luzon and the South China Sea this month to test the country’s ability to defend against threats amid tensions with China. The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ annual joint exercise “Dagit, Langit at Lupa” ― translating from Tagalog to sea, air and land ― kicked off on Monday. This year’s iteration will see Manila deploy 2,000 troops, as well as an unspecified number of national policemen and Coast Guard personnel, at key locations across the Philippine archipelago to test newly acquired capabilities and national defense concepts.
