Elizabeth Olsen is a rare bird amongst the preening Hollywood set.
The 36-year-old is deeply honest yet private; bold yet quiet; timelessly elegant yet uninterested in expensive clothing or designer labels…
Unless the designer label is The Row.
“I don’t know how to be a performative version of myself to the public, nor do I want to,” she shared with InStyle Magazine, sitting down with the publication as the cover star of their Winter 2025 digital issue.
“I want people to watch a movie and see me as a character,” shares Olsen.
The writer of the profile, Jason Sheeler, notes, “She only wears vintage, like her Cartier watch and Levi’s, and things her sisters give her from The Row, like her coat.”
Of course, if your older sisters were the designing duo behind The Row, you, too, would make an exception to your largely vintage-only rule — right?
It seems that designer Phoebe Philo, formerly of Celine, is also worth a splurge. In the interview, Olsen shares that she wore the same shoes to her interview as her character wore in a recently wrapped pilot. “They wouldn’t give them to me, so I bought them. They just feel so good on. My feet,” she explained.
That’s not to say that Olsen doesn’t indulge in consumerism, though. “I love buying food, and I love buying home goods. Linens. I buy a lot of small tables …” shares the star.
As for skincare? That’s worth the cost as well. And with her flawless skin, it shows. “I’ll spend money, but it’s not on clothes,” Olsen explains. She clairifies, “it’s on skin products, it’s on lasers. I don’t want to do anything crazy to my face, so I invest in elasticity.”
As an actor who began her career with indie films (after her cameo in “How The West Was Fun”), she is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and just wrapped a new rom-com.
Much like her breadth of projects, Olsen’s sense of style evokes a sense of authenticity and timelessness. It’s a winning combination, both on screen and in real life.
