Coursera partners with OpenAI, becoming one of the first generation of apps available in ChatGPT — EdTech Innovation Hub

Unveiled at OpenAI’s DevDay, the partnership is said to be the first example of an online learning platform being embedded into ChatGPT, making educational content more accessible to learners worldwide.

ChatGPT’s Free, Go, Plus, and Pro users are now able to access Coursera videos and information directly in the LLM, making the content more interactive and dynamic. Users simply need to ask ChatGPT for the app by name.

ChatGPT will also suggest the Coursera app to users when it recognizes that it will be helpful.

“This partnership reflects Coursera and OpenAI’s shared commitment to expanding access to education and helping people everywhere learn, grow, and thrive,” says Greg Hart, CEO at Coursera. “By putting trusted, verified learning into the hands of hundreds of millions of people, we can help them gain the skills they need to pursue economic opportunity and prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.”

“ChatGPT is quickly becoming one of the go-to tools for people who want to learn something new. But the most powerful learning experiences happen when human expertise and AI work together,” adds Leah Belsky, Vice President of Education at OpenAI. “By bringing the expertise of world-class educators and institutions within Coursera into ChatGPT, learners can more easily find trusted content, build job-ready skills, move their careers forward, and unlock new opportunities.”
