London school ranked the safest state school in England

St Olave’s and St Saviour’s Grammar School in Bromley ranked number one in the list from the Great British Schools Guide (GBSG).

Schools were ranked by the guide based on the most up-to-date responses from the government’s Parent View survey (Ofsted’s official platform for gathering feedback from parents) for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Great British Schools Guide (GBSG) has released data to reveal the schools where children feel most secure, as rated by parents, and how safety links to academic performance.

The GBSG website states: “The analysis focuses on responses to the statement: ‘My child feels safe at this school’ , one of the key indicators in the online survey where parents rate various aspects of school life using a five-point Likert scale, from ‘strongly disagree’ to ‘strongly agree’.”

Only schools which had at least 30 submissions to the Parent View survey and a minimum of a 20% response rate were included in the guide.

In terms of what makes a school feel safe, GBSG said: “Interestingly, our analysis shows a strong connection between perceived safety and broader satisfaction.

“The correlation between the safety score and parents’ likelihood of recommending the school was an astonishing 0.96 (with one being perfect), suggesting that safety is a core driver of overall parent endorsement.”

St Olave’s and St Saviour’s Grammar School was also rated the top school regionally for London, being followed by Turing House School in Richmond upon Thames with a 98% rating.
