Thunderstorms ground departures at Harry Reid Airport

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Departures at Harry Reid International were grounded due to thunderstorms on Friday afternoon, according to the FAA.

Storms were seen moving east-to-west toward the Las Vegas Valley on Friday afternoon. Heavy rain, frequent lightning, gusty winds, and hail are expected as storms move through the valley, according to the National Weather Service.

NV Energy reported around 82 outages and more than 13,000 customers without power shortly before 4 p.m.

Traffic lights at Koval Lane at Tropicana Avenue, as well as Flamingo Road, were reportedly not working shortly after 4 p.m., according to the RTC of Southern Nevada.

The City of Henderson canceled a free outdoor screening along Water Street Plaza, scheduled for Friday night.

A flash flood warning was also issued for the southeastern and eastern Las Vegas valley from 4:08 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

A flash flood warning for the Mt. Charleston area was expected through 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Earlier Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service of Las Vegas issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Clark County until 3:15 p.m. due to strong thunderstorms that were spotted west of Highway 95 and Cal-Nev-Ari.
