The First CS Tournament in Hong Kong
It was recently announced that from 12-16 November 2025, Hong Kong will host its very first Counter-Strike 2 tournament. This will be organised by the company BLAST, which previously ran the BLAST Major Paris 2023 (for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) and, more recently, BLAST Major Austin 2025 (for Counter-Strike 2).
The tournament will take place at the AsiaWorld-Arena, which is Hong Kong’s largest indoor performance venue with seating. It opened in 2005 and is located near Hong Kong International Airport. In its 20 years, it’s hosted a wide range of concerts from local, national and international artists, as well as a long list of sports competitions and other events.
The upcoming CS2 tournament will be the largest-ever esports tournament to take place in Hong Kong. It will be the first event of its kind to receive the ‘M’ designation from the Major Sports Events Committee under the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The ‘M’ designation is only given to events that are likely to improve Hong Kong’s reputation as a leading worldwide destination for sports and entertainment.
Tournament Details
The tournament’s full name is BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025. The BLAST Premier series is divided into two seasons: Spring and Fall, with each one lasting around four months. Since 2024, BLAST has used three formats for its tournaments: Bounty (32 teams), Open (16 teams) and Rivals (eight teams).
Of the eight teams taking part in the BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025 tournament, four will be chosen from the Valve Regional Standings. As for the remaining four, there will be one from each of the following areas: Europe, North America, South America and Asia, in order to ensure a good amount of global representation. They will be chosen based on their ranking after the four teams from the Valve Regional Standings have been selected. The teams will take on one another in four-team, double-elimination brackets, with the best five teams going on to compete in the grand final.
There will be a total prize fund of $1 million, which includes participation fees. It hasn’t been revealed how much the winning team will win. The event will be broadcast through Twitch and YouTube in more than 30 languages and will reach people in over 100 countries worldwide. It’s expected that the number of viewers for the tournament will be in the millions.
At the time of writing, none of the eight teams taking part in BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025 has been confirmed; they will be announced in due course. No matter which teams end up competing in the tournament, there’s no doubt it will be a major success not just for the Counter-Strike series, but also for Hong Kong.
Excitement About the Tournament Coming to Hong Kong
To bring the tournament to Hong Kong, the company BLAST, which specialises in competitive entertainment events, worked closely with the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Esports Association of Hong Kong. It’s hoped that the event will establish the region as a leader in professional competitive gaming tournaments. People behind the event also want it to drive growth in Asia’s esports industry and encourage young people to start gaming so that future talents can be found.
Those who visit Hong Kong to participate in the tournament, as well as those who are involved in organising it, can look forward to enjoying a well-organised world-class event in an impressive venue. They also have the opportunity to spend time in Hong Kong, discovering the city’s many cultural offerings and fascinating history.
If you’re a CS fan, be sure to tune in from 12-16 November when BLAST Premier Hong Kong Rivals 2025 is held. The tournament will bring together some of the world’s best Counter-Strike 2 players and is sure to be one to watch.
