WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – WASHINGTON (Gray DC) – Senator John Thune (R-S.D.) thinks that history will be the final judge of whether President Donald Trump’s airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear program were effective.
Gray Media’s Washington correspondent Molly Martinez asked the Republican Majority Leader about the developments in Iran.
Senator John Thune: “Well, I think we’ll hopefully we’ll get a better, clearer picture of that tomorrow. We have an all senators briefing, and Secretary Rubio and Secretary Hegseth they’re going to be here to provide that. So, I mean, my I just think they were obviously the program was set back significantly. How much or the extent of that? I think time will tell, and it will probably take a while to get them up for a better assessment, a more fulsome assessment, if you will, of just held back how bad it was, damage or how far it was set back. But I don’t think there’s any question. Based on the amount of damage that those types of bombs do, that it had to have a tremendous impact.”
The full senate is scheduled for a classified briefing on the issue Thursday afternoon. The House is set for a classified briefing Friday.
At a press conference at the NATO Summit at The Hague, Netherlands, President Donald Trump defended his decision, insisting that Iran’s nuclear program was totally obliterated.
