30 people evacuated at Hong Kong airport after fire breaks out

The Fire Services Department said it received a report at 3.03pm about the emergency at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Two fire engines and two teams of firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus were called to the scene and had put out the flames in the electrical engineering device room by 4.01pm, the department added.

Thirty people were evacuated, according to the department.

Police said the location of the incident was close to boarding gate 212.

The Airport Authority said the emergency forced the temporary closure of boarding gates 212, 214 and 216, but no aircraft were parked there at the time. No one suffered injuries, it added.
