Woman arrested for suspected child neglect after 2 rescued from Hong Kong flat fire

A 52-year-old woman has been arrested for suspected child neglect after her two grandchildren were rescued by firefighters from a burning flat in Hong Kong’s Tsz Wan Shan on Saturday.

Police were alerted at 11.45am to two children being trapped alone in a high-rise flat at Lok Moon House at Tsz Lok Estate with smoke seen coming out of the home.

A nine-year-old girl and her seven-year-old brother were rescued by firefighters, who used a jet and mobilised a breathing apparatus team to fight the blaze, which was put out at 12.43pm.
