A 46-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of throwing red paint at the headquarters of the Hong Kong government.
Security personnel discovered the paint splashed near a flower bed at an entrance of the headquarters close to Harcourt Road on Wednesday morning. Broken glass was also found at the scene.
Security footage showed that a glass bottle containing red paint was thrown from an area near a footbridge connected to the headquarters and landed on Harcourt Road below at 8.15pm on Tuesday.
The bottle shattered on impact, spreading red paint on the ground.
Police arrested the unemployed woman on Thursday morning at the Ivy Street Rest Garden in Tai Kok Tsui.
During a search of a nearby industrial building where the suspect lived, police recovered clothes, shoes and a handbag believed to have been worn during the incident.
