Why will Good Omens Season 3 have just one episode?
Good Omens will return for its third and final season as one 90-minute episode. Prime Video plans to release it on May 13, 2026. The series is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It first premiered in May, 2019.
It follows angel Aziraphale, played by Michael Sheen, and demon Crowley, played by David Tennant. The show also hinted at a major event coming in Season 3. At first, the final season was supposed to have six episodes.
Following the 2023 Hollywood strikes, several projects were affected, including Good Omens. The series faced delays because of the strike. In December 2023, after the strike ended, Good Omens Season 3 was confirmed.
But in 2024, things changed. In July 2024, Gaiman was accused of sexual assault and abuse by various women. This led to the show’s production being paused in September 2024. In October 2024, Gaiman stepped down from the series.
Following that, Amazon decided to reduce Season 3 to one longer episode. However, Gaiman still receives writing credit. He no longer works as showrunner or executive producer. The show’s streaming platform also did not share a detailed reason for shortening the season.
