Two strong European clubs get set for an important contest on Wednesday, as Barcelona plays host to Copenhagen on the final day of the league phase of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League season.

The UEFA Champions League, formerly known as the European Cup, is a time-honored tournament where the best teams across the continent come together to determine the best club in Europe.
In the league phase, teams play eight matches, with the top eight clubs advancing to the Round of 16, while the clubs that finish between ninth and 24th place are forced to go to the knockout phase play-offs.
Both clubs head into Wednesday with different goals. For Barcelona, they are trying to get into the top eight and receive a bye to the Round of 16. The club that made it all the way to the semifinals last season currently sits ninth in the table, though it is tied with eight teams with 13 points apiece. Meaning, even if Barca were to win, they would need help to avoid being relegated to the play-offs.
Copenhagen would simply be glad to participate in the play-offs. Despite grabbing points in three straight UCL matches, the Danish club sits 26th in the standings, needing a win and some assistance to move on.
