FC Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has reflected on the end of the 2025/26 Bundesliga title race. While nothing was officially decided after Saturday evening’s 2-3 away win over Borussia Dortmund, an 11-point-gap between Bayern and Dortmund counts as practically insurmountable with only ten matchdays in the current campaign remaining.
“I wanted to briefly experience and feel what the players experience here,” Kompany told Sky Germany “It’s just a moment for me too. But then I quickly left again. Because those days are over for me. Dortmund fought hard and sought to seize their chance this evening. Overall this was a great advert for the Bundesliga.“
“[Bundesliga] play shall continue,” Kompany went on to answer when asked about his captain’s comments. “We’ve scored 88 goals [this season]. Why should we stop now. I just want to enjoy these last few months in the Bundesliga.“
