TWRA provides detour information for hunters amid Genesis Road closing through October | Local News

Road construction and closures are happening at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Catoosa Wildlife Management Area (WMA) over the next few weeks.

TWRA spokesperson Mimi Barnes says Genesis Road, or State Route 298, is expected to be closed through October for a road repair project south of Adam’s Bridge over the Obed River and hunters who use it will be affected.

The best ways for hunters to get to the Genesis Campground at the Catoosa WMA during the closing will be:

  • Exit 317 off I-40 to US 127N to Potato Farm Road
  • Highway 62 to Genesis Road South

Barnes says the Catoosa WMA will be closed to public traffic during the scheduled big game hunts, and thru traffic will not be allowed.
