“Oh yeah, Labubus are demonic.”
Perhaps on any other show at this time in America, that quip from a school teachers meeting would be the takeaway. However, on South Park tonight between Fox News‘ obsession with Donald Trump and Satan’s sex life, Jesus as a failed guidance counselor, mini-VP JD Vance as a soft tuxedoed shoulder to cry on, a birthday party pentagram, the Labubu line was just one of many.
Oh yeah, and Satan’s pregnant with Trump’s baby.
On a winning satire streak since the July 23 premiere of their twenty-seventh season, South Park stirred up the pot once again tonight by throwing some Labubus in the mix with a megalomaniacal Trump, a reluctant Satan, a Son of God on a mission, and some hard hitting tariffs. In the fourth episode of this elongated 10-episode season, tonight’s Trey Parker penned and directed “Wok Is Dead” played as much to the childish impulses of its main characters as it did to Trump’s madness – which has proven to be a very successful and poignant potion this year.
It’s all because Butters wanted to get his (kinda) girlfriend Red a.k.a Kelly one of the increasingly rare furry and (let’s admit it) creepy Monsters dolls from China’s Popmart (a.k.a. “Shitty Pop-Up Asian Store” in South Park) that have been on every kid’s demand list the past few months. It’s not just any Labubu that Red wants, she wants the extra rare “Secret” Labubu found in just a select number of the blind boxes.
“You gotta pay tariff. You think I pay tariff?” the super stereotyped guy behind the counter tells Butters of the $85 price of the ugly-cute dolls. Later in the show the price goes up to $120 cause “tariff’s not fair.”
“I get screwed by tariffs so I have to screw children,” the pop-up owner declares, in a remark on the minds of many a CEO right now as rising prices hit American consumers from all directions over Trump’s return to the economic policies of the 1920s.
Yeah, the hard to get and much bootlegged Labubus are this year’s Cabbage Patch dolls or Beanie Babies. So much so that a girl brawl in the halls of South Park Elementary kicks off the episode.
Of course, the real kick is when Fox News shows up to ask an Air Force One deplaning Trump why the First Lady is in New York so much and if he’s “f*cking Satan.” Trump insists he and the Prince of Darkness are “just sort of hangin’ out,” and the Fox reporters praise POTUS as such a “stud.” The true running joke of tonight’s episode was the MAGA fawning Fox coming back repeatedly with News Alerts declaring “I definitely think the President is f*cking Satan, and I love it.”
Later, once the little one on the way for Satan and Trump is confirmed by the Dark Lord himself, Fox proves Trump’s long held contention that MAGA will put up with any sin or crime by him.
Bursting with sycophantic joy, the Murdoch-owned outlet announces that “demonic pregnancies work a little different …the term is butt baby.” If you thought South Park couldn’t go deeper and darker, tonight proved that notion incorrect.
“For all the doubters …in your face,” the generic Fox News anchor exclaims before cutting to an interview with an emotionally overwhelmed Kid Rock. Which, just when you think the whole thing was about to run out of steam with that Satan and Jesus face-off, is really the only way to end some All-American satire, isn’t it?

With South Park skipping a week between episodes for this whole season, as Deadline revealed last month, the next time we’ll see Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny will be September 17 on Comedy Central and Paramount+. You might see a randy Trump and a dysfunctionally dependent Lord of the Underworld back in there too.
