Timothée Chalamet Teases Major Change for Dune: Part Three Character

Timothée Chalamet revealed how Paul Atreides will be “different” in Dune 3.

What did Timothée Chalamet say about Dune: Part Three?

Dune 3, also known as Dune: Part Three, will be the third movie in Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune saga. Chalamet will reprise his role as Paul Atreides, the Duke of House Atreides, who, at the end of Dune: Part Two, accepted his destiny as Muad’Dib and became the Emperor.

Dune 3 will jump ahead 15 to 20 years into the future and feature a new version of Paul Atreides. While he remained silent on plot details, Chalamet did mention several changes to his character.

“Without giving too much away about Dune: Part Three, but I am playing older,” Chalamet told GamesRadar+. “And also someone who’s been impacted by years of leadership and carries that weight. It’s different.”

Production on Dune 3 began this past July. During a recent event with Adam Sandler last month, Chalamet revealed that he wrapped filming on Dune 3 in November.

Dune: Part Three is based on Dune Messiah, Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel and the second book in the Dune series.

Besides Chalamet, Dune 3’s returning cast includes Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, and Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho.

Robert Pattinson is reportedly playing the villainous role of Scytale. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke will play Leto II and Ghanima Atreides, the twin siblings of Paul and Chani.

Villeneuve returns to direct Dune 3 from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts. Producers include Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Patrick McCormick, and Tanya Lapointe.

2021’s Dune and 2022’s Dune: Part Two received critical acclaim, with many fans and critics praising Villeneuve’s faithful adaptations. The two movies have combined to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Warner Bros. will release Dune 3 in theaters on December 18, 2026.
