This Morning presenter Josie Gibson has been notably absent from the show this summer, and has now spoken out about the reason for her extended break from work
A This Morning presenter has confirmed they’ve “taken a step back from TV work” this summer.
Josie Gibson has been conspicuously missing from her presenting responsibilities this summer, with Craig Doyle, Rochelle Humes, Emma Willis, and Joel Dommett stepping in to cover for Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley during their holidays.
Josie has now explained her absence and disclosed her intentions to embrace a more off-grid lifestyle whilst spending quality time with her son, Rex.
She revealed: “I want to live off the land as much as I can and get a little allotment going, which I’ve never had.
“All my family are involved in helping me – I’ve got the best of Bristol on it, so I’m hoping I can build a showstopper. A lot of my work comes through the summer holidays because I’m covering for people. So this year I made a conscious decision to step back and I spent a lot more time with Reggie over the summer than I’d normally get to do.”, reports the Express.
Earlier this month, Josie bravely spoke publicly for the first time about a cancer scare and the frightening discovery of a lump in her breast.
Josie had previously undergone breast enhancement surgery in 2013, increasing from a B cup to a DD. However, after a cancer scare in 2023, she was compelled to make a significant decision and chose to have her implants removed.
Discussing the experience, she expressed that she became “really worried about it” when she discovered the lump. Speaking to The Sun, she said: “You could actually see it protruding – you could see the breast had changed shape, so I was getting a little bit frightened.”
She continued: “So I went to my GP and he had a feel around – it was my breast implant. I went and I had them out and, for me, it was one of the best things I’ve done.”
Josie has also partnered with Breast Cancer Now charity to promote their new “eyes down, check up” campaign.
The well-loved television personality is also renowned for her Big Brother win in 2010, where she garnered the highest percentage of public votes in the show’s history.
