Child care: A child’s health is shaped by what they eat. But in the rush to simply fill their child’s stomach, many parents end up giving them anything easily available—healthy or not. Some even feed their kids junk food without a second thought. But is this really safe? What harm can these foods cause? Here’s what Dr Preeti Pandey says about the foods that can be most damaging for children.
Avoid Feeding These Foods To children
Years ago, mornings often began with a simple cup of tea and a few biscuits in most homes. But today, many children eat this as a full breakfast. This habit can be harmful. Consuming caffeine first thing in the morning isn’t suitable for kids. Instead of tea, offer them milk and almonds.
These days, parents—and often the kids themselves—love indulging in burgers, pizzas, french fries, and pasta. While these foods are easily available and tempting, they are far from ideal. Regular consumption can lead to rapid weight gain in children and increase the risk of multiple health issues.
If you give your kids cold drinks or pastries at a young age, it’s time to rethink that habit. Many children enjoy cakes and pastries, but these treats are loaded with sugar. Cold drinks contain soda, which can irritate the stomach and even harm the intestines.
Avoid giving chips, Kurkure, chocolates, or any processed snacks for breakfast. Try not to introduce processed foods into their daily routine at all.
Instant options like Maggi and noodles may seem convenient, but avoid giving them frequently. These foods contain a high amount of refined flour, which can affect overall health. They are also heavy on digestion and may cause stomach discomfort or pain.
