The Traitors backs Alan Cumming-led cast amid recent cyberbullying
After the spike in cyberbullying, it seems that The Traitors have finally deemed it necessary to address their fanbase. In a recent post, the Peacock reality TV show posted a statement in defense of its castmates.
The show made a post on X, which urged fans not to cyberbully or harass the cast members, reiterating that they were humans, too.
The post from @TheTraitorsUS read, “We are committed to making our casts feel safe, respected, and supported—on screen and off.” It continued, “The cast of The Traitors are real people, and what happens in the game should never lead to cyberbullying or harassment. There’s a difference between discussing a show and targeting individuals.”
The post further added, “Let’s not ruin the passion for this show with unwarranted negativity and personal attacks.” It concluded, “We appreciate your support.”
This came shortly after The Traitors fans pointed out that Ron Funches was on the autism spectrum. After listening to the fans, Funches confirmed that he was indeed on the autism spectrum. “Well, the internet told me I was autistic and was right,” he posted on his Instagram story, “You win this round.”
Funches further wrote about this on Threads, “I honestly didn’t know I myself had Autism I thought I was just an ally and parent of an autistic child, but the way I felt I wasn’t being comprehended or understood while I thought I was being direct and seeing some of my own mannerisms made [me] start the process of going to get a diagnosis.”
Meanwhile, cyberbullying remains a concern for the cast members of The Traitors.
