The dramatic conclusion of The Rookie Season 8 Episode 6 has left viewers with a major question: does Miles Penn die or survive? He was shown unconscious in the aftermath of a devastating explosion at Mid Wilshire Station. However, the newly released trailer for Episode 7 now addresses that uncertainty.
The Rookie Season 8 Episode 7 trailer confirms Miles’ future
ABC has officially clarified whether Miles Penn dies following the explosive events of The Rookie Season 8 Episode 6. A newly released trailer for Episode 7 confirms that the character survives the blast at Mid Wilshire Station and will continue as part of the series, easing speculation about a possible exit.
The uncertainty followed the high stakes conclusion of Episode 6, which centered on escalating chaos at the station. A suspect planted an explosive device beneath the patrol vehicle used by Lucy Chen and Celina Juarez, triggering a blast that left several officers wounded. Miles was among those most severely affected and was shown unconscious in the aftermath. His condition led to widespread concern among fans.
However, the episode closed with Celina remaining at his hospital bedside, where she explained that he had suffered a concussion, significant blunt force trauma, bruising, and second degree burns.
Despite the severity of the injuries, she assured that his condition was stable. She said, “Oh, he’s okay. Concussion, lots of blunt force trauma, bruising, some second-degree burns, but it could’ve been a lot worse.”
The trailer for Episode 7 also provides a clear answer for the character’s future. Miles appears back in uniform and working alongside John Nolan, Lucy Chen, and Celina Juarez as they investigate a series of murders in Los Angeles. His active duty scenes confirm that the character’s storyline will continue despite the recent events.
Miles, portrayed by Deric Augustine, joined The Rookie in Season 7 as a rookie officer assigned to train under Tim Bradford, played by Eric Winter. Since his introduction, he has become a regular member of the Mid Wilshire team.
