Season 2 picks up 10 months after the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s ER crew was put through the wringer due to a mass shooting at a nearby music festival.
Like its previous season, each episode follows the medical team for one hour in a 15-hour shift that begins at 7 a.m. It’s the Fourth of July, and the nurses, doctors and residents deal with firework accidents, alcohol-related incidents and, unsurprisingly, not enough hands to treat anxiously waiting patients.
But this time, the abundance of people in need of treatment is due to another ER in the neighborhood mysteriously shutting down.
USA TODAY TV Critic Kelly Lawler gave “The Pitt” Season 2 a rave review (★★★★ out of four), writing in her review: “‘Pitt’ was and is the best show we have about the way we live now, and it has already captured the essence of 2026 in the same way it captured 2025 a year ago.”
