Sweet Joy Brazilian Cafe appears poised to relocate from its current pink-trimmed Brady Street location.
The plant-filled cafe at 1208 E. Brady St. has been serving up coffee, smoothies, all-day breakfast and Brazilian baked goods since opening in January 2023. But, according to a March 22 Facebook post, Sweet Joy is now “planning a future relocation” while also “exploring the possibility of passing this beautiful cafe to a new owner.”
“This is a fully equipped, turn-key coffee shop with a warm atmosphere and everything ready to operate,” the Facebook post says. “If you or someone you know has ever dreamed of owning a coffee shop, this could be a special opportunity.”
Marcia Joy, the cafe’s owner, declined to comment further on the cafe’s relocation plans.

Joy is also the founder of Sweet Joy Brigadeiro, a maker of Brazilian truffle-like chocolates, which launched online in 2014. The business eventually expanded into the coffee shop, with Sweet Joy serving up hand-coated and rolled brigadeiros alongside guava and cheese pastries and pão de queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread.
The cafe is sandwiched between live music bar Nashville North and The Deep Groove, a newly opened vinyl listening lounge and cafe. With Sweet Joy’s relocation, the remaining locally owned coffee shops on Brady Street include The Deep Groove, Rochambo Coffee & Tea House and Nomad Coffee Bar. Meanwhile, a Starbucks location recently opened in the strip mall by the intersection of Brady Street and North Farwell Avenue.
Sweet Joy is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to its website.
Anyone interested in Sweet Joy’s current location can contact the shop at (414) 507-2241 or sweetjoy.marcia@gmail.com, according to the Facebook post.
