Students in elite Hong Kong secondary school caught cheating in uniform test

Several students from an elite secondary school in Hong Kong have been caught cheating in a standardised Chinese history test, with the institution vowing to penalise those who violated the rules.

Queen’s College in Causeway Bay, the city’s oldest government secondary school, said in a circular released on Tuesday that it would not hold the test again. Students in the same class as the offenders would not have the results included in their second term assessment.

According to a school internal circular seen by the Post on Wednesday, which was also widely shared online, principal Eric Chan Cheung-wai told parents that “several” students were found to have cheated in the Chinese history test held late last month.

“The school attaches great importance to this matter and immediately launched an investigation and met the students and invigilators involved to understand the details of the incident,” he wrote.

“After investigation, it was confirmed that several students in one class were involved in violations to different extents during the test.

“The school will strictly punish students who violate the rules in accordance with the school regulations.”
