Stranger Things Spin-off Adds Odessa A’zion to Netflix TV Show, Gets Posters

Netflix has officially welcomed a new cast member to its upcoming Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 series, which serves as the animated spin-off to the global hit sci-fi thriller. In addition, the streamer has also shared new posters, offering a closer look at the main characters.

“Return to Hawkins with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an exciting new animated series from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers. In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town, and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened,” reads the official synopsis. “Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this untold story set in the Stranger Things universe.”

Who is joining Stranger Things: Tales From ’85?

Marty Supreme star Odessa A’zion is set to voice the character Nikki Baxter, who is described as a pink-haired “super punk” transfer student. According to A’zion, Nikki will become the D&D crew’s muscle.

“[Nikki is] the barbarian and the protector [of the crew],” A’zion explained (via Tudum). “They had everything, and she was the missing puzzle piece. You need a little muscle in that crew. [She] wants to stick up for people who have trouble sticking up for themselves, and I think she’s a badass for that.”

Showrunner Eric Robles added, “Nikki is the audience’s eyes. She comes into this world completely new. She’s got her own issues that she’s been dealing with, and it’s these kids who step into her world in a sense.”

The animated spin-off is executive-produced by showrunner Eric Robles. The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha “EJ” Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, Brett Gipson as Hopper, and Jeremy Jordan as Steve, along with Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips. The show is executive-produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, Hilary Leavitt for Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy for 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen. It hails from animation studio Flying Bark.
