Stocks Steady as Traders Look Through Chaos to Corporate Results

US equities traded higher on midday Thursday as investors parsed through a slew of tariff headlines and looked ahead to corporate results that are due to start next week.

The S&P 500 Index added 0.2% by noon in New York, with nine of the eleven sectors rising, led by health care and consumer discretionary. Gains were widespread, with more than 360 stocks in the benchmark trading higher. United Airlines Holdings Inc. and Delta Air Lines Inc. rose at least 11%. The Nasdaq 100 Index was down 0.2%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 0.5% to trade near its all-time high reached in December.
