Coffee giant Starbucks is celebrating a win after Super Bowl 60, doling out free coffee to its Starbucks Rewards members while also debuting a new coffee blend and a new pastry lineup.
On Monday, Feb. 9, Starbucks Rewards members can get a free tall (12 ounce) brewed hot or iced coffee with the purchase of another beverage of equal or greater value. The offer includes its new Starbucks 1971 Roast, which is making its debut.
Here’s how to get the free coffee
Ready-to-drink and alcohol are excluded. To get the offer, Starbucks Rewards members should check the offers tab in the app and look for the free coffee coupon. The offer is valid only at U.S. stores.

Starbucks is also serving its tall, grande and venti hot beverages in special-edition paper cups that have the Starbucks green and original logo, according to a news release. The special edition cups are available throughout February while supplies last.
New bakery items debut

Starbucks is introducing six new pastry items touted as “globally inspired” to its lineup starting Feb. 9 at participating U.S. coffeehouses. Included in the lineup is the Dubai Chocolate Bite. This tart features a shortbread crust filled with kataifi pistachio cream and topped with a chocolate drizzle and pistachio crumbles. Cookie Croissant Swirl, Strawberry Matcha Loaf, Berry Blonde and Yuzu Citrus Blossom join the lineup of year-round pastries while the new Chocolate Pistachio Loaf will be available for a limited time.
Starbucks new roast marks its start

Starbucks began in 1971 at Seattle’s Pike Place Market, a 1,000 square foot space staffed by a single employee, its website says. Now the global chain is introducing its Starbucks 1971 Roast as a tribute. Its new roast is a blend labeled as a bold, dark roast with notes of toasted sugar and rich walnut. Starbucks 1971 Roast will be available starting Feb. 9 as a brewed coffee and packaged as whole bean.
“This blend is like nothing we created before,” said Sergio Alvarez who helped lead the development of the new roast in a news release. “You get this super complex and bold coffee, and then it finishes very smoothly and velvety. It’s the best of two worlds.”
Alvarez started working at the Pike Place store as a part-time barista in 2009 and is now a developer on the Coffee at Starbucks Supper Center.
New 1971 Roast drinkware
Along with the new roast is Starbucks new 1971 drinkware collection of tumblers, mugs and cold cups. Each one is $24.95 and has a specific design.
