Hannibal Public School officials react to statewide cell phone ban

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield Public Schools is enforcing a new cell phone-electronic device policy for the 2025-2026 school year.

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signed a new state law prohibiting students from using or displaying any personal electronic communication devices during the school day. The law includes:

  • Cell phones
  • Smartwatches
  • Headphones
  • Wireless earbuds

Students must turn off devices. They then must be stored out of sight.
