Two teams that were often fighting for the Champions League spots in the 2010s, Sevilla and Valencia have struggled in recent years.
This season, it hasn’t been much better with both sides just two points above the relegation zone, Sevilla in 14th, and Valencia in 16th. Each team also has one win in their last five matches.
Sevilla
Matias Almedaya has a few injury issues that will be affecting his team selection for Sunday.
Tanguy Nianzou suffered a setback from a hamstring injury he suffered earlier in the season, and is expected to be out for a while longer.
Gabriel Suazo is expected to miss the Valencia match having injured his calf against Espanyol a few weeks ago.
Ruben Vargas and Adnan Januzaj injured his hamstring during the match against Espanyol.
Valencia
Mouctar Diakhaby is the only player expected to be missing for Valencia, as he has the last five games due to a muscle injury.
Valencia- Agirrezabala; Correia, Tarrega, Copete, Gaya; Guerra, Pepelu; Lopez, Almeida, Rioja; Duro (4-2-3-1)
Sevilla – Vlachodimos; Sanchez, Azpilicueta, Salas, Carmona; Sow, Mendy; Gonzalez, Fernandez, Ejuke; Adams (4-2-3-1)
Valencia – Hugo Duro
In light of what has been a tough season so far for Valencia, striker Hugo Duro has been contributing in the attack with six goal contributions in 16 sixteen games.
Four goals in 14 LaLiga games means Duro is hitting the back of the net with a rate of 0.50 per 90.
Something that isn’t particularly good for Duro is the fact that he only manages 1.91 shots per 90 in 2025, which puts him in the lower 14% of strikers in Europe, though Valencia do rank 16th in xG in the league this season.
Sevilla – Ruben Vargas
Vargas has been Sevilla’s best contributor for goals this season, with three goals and four assists in the league.
It’s a decent return considering he is playing in a side that ranks 18th in LaLiga for XG (13.9).
Vargas is also averaging 0.28 assists per 90 which ranks him in the top 20% of wingers in Europe in 2025.
