The stage is set for a thrilling showdown as England’s Red Roses take on Scotland in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 at Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol at 4pm today.
Among the stars of the Red Roses squad is Maud Muir, the powerhouse prop hailing from Oxford.
Her rugby journey began at just five years old with Oxford Harlequins, where she was the only girl in her age group.

She later joined the Gosford All Blacks, representing their U15 and U18 sides and quickly gaining recognition for her strength and technical skill.
Muir’s rise through the ranks continued as she represented the South West at age-grade level and joined the Wasps Centre of Excellence before launching her senior career. Today, she plays for Gloucester-Hartpury, where she’s helped secure multiple Premiership titles and earned over 40 caps for England.
Earlier this year, Muir returned to Oxfordshire to host a youth workshop at Chinnor Rugby Club, inspiring the next generation of female players. Her journey from local club pitches to the world stage has made her a beloved figure in Oxford East and beyond.
