Last night, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky showed up fashionably late to the Natural History Museum for the CFDA Awards, where A$AP received the 2025 Fashion Icon award. “I love my style. It belongs to me and it changes,” the Harlem native told The Cut on the red carpet before swooning over being a girl dad. He wore a custom Chanel look to accept his award.
His partner, Rihanna, made a surprise appearance by his side for her first red carpet since giving birth to their daughter in September. Of her Alaïa trench coat and harem-style pants, which just walked the runway in Paris last month, she said, “It’s effortless, timeless, and postpartum forward.” What else would we expect from the queen of pregnancy dressing (and a woman who gave birth in pearls)?
Other red-carpet attendees included Lily Allen, wearing CFDA Emerging Designer nominee Colleen Allen; Amber Valletta, wearing the iconic plunge-neck Versace dress; and Olandria Carthen, who showed up with designer Brandon Blackwood wearing a custom chocolate pony-hair dress he’d made for her. The host of the night, Teyana Taylor, wore a structured Thom Browne suit with Swarovski crystals.
Accepting his award later in the evening, Rocky nodded to Rihanna’s style, which earned her the same Fashion Icon award at the 2014 CFDAs. Reflecting on that night, he said, “Remember what I told you? I said, ‘You inspire me — I’m going to win that shit one day.’”
