Peacock Adding Controversial New Feature To Streaming Service

Peacock announced its plans to add a controversial new feature to its streaming service.

What is the controversial new feature on Peacock?

NBCUniversal is bringing AI Andy Cohen to the Peacock mobile app. Your Bravoverse is an AI-powered vertical video experience guided by Cohen’s video avatar. The Watch What Happens Live host will guide Bravo fans through personalized playlists with clips from over 5,000 hours of Bravo footage.

NBCUniversal will use AI throughout every step of the Your Bravoverse experience to help fans learn more about a particular series or relive memorable moments. The process begins when Peacock users choose their favorite Bravo shows and moments. AI technology will then create a personalized playlist, with each clip moving into the next. AI-Cohen will then guide users to the things they love and the shows they should watch next.

Cohen’s AI avatar was built using Synthesia’s technology, based exclusively on footage recorded in Synthesia’s studio to capture and replicate his likeness. Your Bravoverse launches this summer.

“If there’s one thing Bravo fans love, it’s being part of the conversation,” Cohen said in a press release. “Your Bravoverse takes that to the next level by bringing AI into the mix and creating an experience that’s intuitive, interactive, and built entirely around the Bravo fandom. It’s the best of AI and the best of Bravo, helping fans discover shows, dive deeper into their favorite moments, and connect with the Bravo universe like never before — all guided by me. Well, not exactly me, but a version of me!”

Peacock also announced that it will implement AI-powered technology to stream live games on mobile devices in a 9:16 vertical format. This will launch in beta for NBA games this spring, which marks the first time an entertainment app offers full live broadcasts in a 9:16 format.

NBA fans can find the vertical video viewing option within Courtside Live, a mobile feature that allows fans to navigate between multiple unique camera angles to immerse themselves in the broadcast.
