Peacemaker fans have been wondering about Season 3 and its release date ever since Season 2 ended on a huge cliffhanger with John Cena’s protagonist being trapped on the Salvation planet.
Some doubt was cast on a third installment’s chances after James Gunn revealed there were no plans for it. Recently, one of the show’s stars addressed the possibility, saying it depended on other projects.
Peacemaker Season 3 could happen, but depends on other DCU projects
While speaking with MUSE TV at the Saturn Awards 2026, where Peacemaker won Best Superhero Television Series, star Jennifer Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt, was asked if she knew anything about Season 3’s development.
The actress replied that there were multiple interconnected storylines within the DCU. She added that a lot of projects were in development and that James Gunn and the creatives were telling standalone stories that didn’t require prior viewing of other films/television shows. “Because of that, the potential of Season 3 of Peacemaker kind of revolves around things that might happen before it,” she explained. “So we’ll see what happens.”
While Holland didn’t elaborate further, she encouraged fans to stay tuned for Gunn’s upcoming DCU films and television shows: Supergirl, Lanterns, and Man of Tomorrow. The American Pie Presents: The Book of Love actress teased that they all had “major ramifications for the universe.”
Holland’s response suggests Season 3 is possible but years away from being realized. Her comments come several months after Gunn addressed Season 3’s chances. While interacting with Deadline, the DC Studios co-CEO revealed he wasn’t planning a third installment. However, he didn’t rule out its possibility.
“No, this is about the wider DCU and other stories in which this will play out right now,” he shared. “That doesn’t mean that there won’t be. I don’t want to never say never, but right now, no, this is about the future of the DCU. It’s an important character.”
Later, on Peacemaker: The Official Podcast, Gunn said that Peacemaker would return but not necessarily in Season 3. He stated, “Peacemaker will be back. As this TV show? We’ll see exactly what form.” He added, “We have plans, but you’ll see all these characters in the future of the DCU, and not too long.”
