Oscar-Favorite With 97% on RT Sets Hulu Streaming Date

Hulu has set the streaming release date for the Oscar-nominated film Sentimental Value. Following its release, the film garnered widespread positive reviews from critics, resulting in an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score. In addition to securing Oscar nominations, the film also received other prestigious nominations and awards.

Sentimental Value gets streaming date on Hulu

The Norwegian drama Sentimental Value will start streaming on Hulu on March 23, 2026. The film’s story explores the complicated family dynamic between filmmaker Gustav and his daughters, Nora and Agnes.

Starring Stellan Skarsgård, the film first premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 2025. It later screened at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival in August 2025. These releases were followed by the film’s theatrical releases in France on August 20, 2025, Norway on September 12, 2025, Sweden on October 3, 2025, and the United Kingdom on December 26, 2025, as well as a limited theatrical release in the United States on November 7, 2025.

Joachim Trier, best known for his work on the Oslo trilogy — consisting of Reprise, Oslo August 31st, and The Worst Person in the World — directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Eskil Vogt. In addition to Stellan Skarsgård, the film stars Renate Reinsve, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Elle Fanning, Anders Danielsen Lee, Jesper Christensen, Lena Endre, Cory Michael Smith, and Catherine Cohen, among others.

The film holds a 97% certified fresh score and 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Meanwhile, on Metacritic, the film boasts a Metascore of 86 and a user score of 7.5. The former indicates “universal acclaim” while the latter points to a “generally favorable” reception.

Reviews for the film have been primarily positive. Julian Wood of Film Ink called the film “an absolutely superb piece of filmmaking in both its writing and acting.”

Meanwhile, The Sunday Times‘ Tom Shone wrote that the director combines “the satisfactions of arthouse film-making with the emotional wallop of great melodrama.”

Jason Shawhan of Nashville Scene wrote in his review, “Sentimental Value makes you want to do better in your own circumstances; and more than that, it makes you want to watch it again.”
