A24 has won a competitive bidding war against major streamers and networks for the rights to an erotic thriller spec script written by writer-actor Dylan Brady.
According to Deadline, Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman is one of the A-list stars in talks to star in the upcoming A24 show. This would serve as Kidman’s latest collaboration with the acclaimed studio after previously leading 2024’s Babygirl with Harris Dickinson.
What do we know about Nicole Kidman’s new A24 TV show?
Originally titled Discretion, the untitled A24 project will undergo a title change in order to separate the series from Kidman’s upcoming Paramount+ TV show with Elle Fanning, which has the same title. Brady’s spec script achieved the second spot on the 2025 The Brit List, which is the British and Irish equivalent of The Black List.
“The untitled drama centers on a struggling actor who takes a nannying job with a high-flying producer and her movie-star husband, plotting to seduce his employers and exploit their industry connections only to find himself ensnared in a far more dangerous game,” reads the initial synopsis.
Brady is a British actor who previously starred in shows like Get Even, The A List, Coronation Street, Ralph & Katie, and Andor Season 2. He also wrote one episode of Netflix’s coming-of-age drama series Everything Now. In a previous interview, Brady revealed that his Fatal Attraction-inspired spec script was inspired by the real-life story of a friend, who became involved with a high-powered couple after getting hired as a helper.
“Erotic thrillers have historically always been very heterosexual, and it’s the marital unit that is the hero that has to be preserved at all costs from an evil slut, who threatens that unity,” he said. “I thought about what this looks like in 2025. What if the slut is the hero and there is something rotten in the marriage? I wanted to break form and put a queer lens on it.”
