Joe Manganiello recently posted a clip of himself as Deathstroke, which urged SnyderVerse fans to demand Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie. Many fans gathered on social media and started the trend “Make the Batfleck movie” to campaign for the project. While a solo Batman movie with Affleck’s Dark Knight was planned as a direct sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel, it eventually didn’t happen.
Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke story revives Batfleck movie trend
The Magic Mike star took to social media and shared a clip of himself as Deathstroke in conversation with Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor.
In the Instagram clip, fans can see Joe Manganiello in full Slade Wilson gear and wrote in the caption, “You’d better not be wasting my time…deathstroke #zacksnyder.” Luthor, in the footage, is seen asking Deathstroke, “Now, you volunteered to destroy the Bat, free of charge. Why the pro bono work?” To this, Deathstroke replies, “It’s personal.”
Luthor further reveals to Deathstroke that Bruce Wayne is Batman, thus setting up a match-up between the two. However, it never happened as the planned Ben Affleck Batman movie never started shooting.
Nevertheless, with the footage circulating online, many fans came up to campaign for the Batfleck movie. A user shared Manganiello’s Instagram story on X and wrote, “Joe Manganiellos Insta story MakeTheBatfleckMovie.”
Another user shared a snap of Affleck and stated, “Announce the Batfleck movie already.”
Moreover, a third user pointed out the timing of the actor’s post. They wrote, “#JoeManganiello has now doubled down on the Deathstroke teases. After recently posting a video of Deathstroke from Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Manganiello followed it up by sharing an image of a Knightmare Deathstroke fan action figure on his Instagram Story. The timing doesn’t look random. Furthermore, a user named John Baker questioned why Manganiello made the post. He wrote, “Things are happening here otherwise why would he be randomly posting Deathstroke MakeTheBatfleckMovie.”
Yet another fan mentioned, “Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke would be a perfeect villain for SnyderVerse Batman solo movie @Netflix, if you’ll win against Paramount, you absolutelly MUST greenlight this project as well as Zack Snyder’s Justice League sequels! Despite fans’ demand, there is no such indication about Ben Affleck’s solo movie as Batman as of writing.
