TOKYO — Japanese trading house Marubeni has bought a U.S. maker of Japanese-style ice cream and aims to double its sales to $100 million in a few years.
Marubeni — which counts Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway as an investor — said on Monday that it acquired all shares of Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream & Desserts in a deal estimated at several billion yen (1 billion yen equals $7 million).
