The 17th edition of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau was announced today at an awards ceremony hosted at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau, crowning 95 restaurants in both cities with stars.
One of the highlights of the evening was Amber – at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel in Hong Kong’s Central business district – finally getting its third Michelin star after first entering the guide in 2008.
Long-time Amber frontman and culinary director Richard Ekkebus told the assembled crowd that he was thrilled and that “it’s the ultimate pinnacle of a lifetime’s work”.
He seemed at a loss for words, adding “it’s really the work and the love of an entire team”.
The latest selection of starred restaurants for 2025 includes 76 in Hong Kong and 19 in Macau.
Spirits were high at the ceremony attended by chefs, restaurant professionals and the media.
