Fashionistas and history buffs can both enjoy a free program about fashion during the 1940s at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10, at Mentor Public Library’s Lake Branch, 5642 Andrews Road in Mentor-on-the-Lake.
Sara Hume, a professor and curator at the Kent State University Museum, will discuss clothing trends during World War II and the 1940s, in general, according to a news release.
She’s researched the history of dress, as well as the relationship between fashionable aesthetics and underlying forces of economic and political change. Both factors came into play during World War II when many materials were unavailable or rationed.
