When is the streaming release date for the Melania Trump movie?

Melania premieres on March 9, 2026, on Prime Video.

Brett Ratner directed and produced Melania. Additional producers include Trump, Fernando Sulichin, and Marc Beckman. Melania is viewed as Ratner’s comeback vehicle after he was accused of sexual assault during the Me Too movement. President Donald Trump has also pushed Paramount to distribute Ratner’s sequel film Rush Hour 4, starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Rush Hour 4 does not have a release date yet.

Many of the major studios and streaming services bid for the distribution rights to Melania. Amazon won with a $40 million bid, which also includes the rights to a follow-up docuseries with the first lady. Amazon reportedly spent an additional $35 million on marketing.

Melania premiered at the Kennedy Center on January 29, 2026. The following day, the documentary opened in theaters globally.

Melania opened to $7.1 million domestically, a strong box office debut for a documentary. It was the highest-grrossing opening for a non-concert documentary since 2012.

Critics and fans are extremely divided on the documentary. On Rotten Tomatoes, Melania currently has an 11% on the Tomatometer and a 98% on the Popcornmeter.
