Megyn Kelly under fire: Did her Epstein comments cross the line?

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly ignited a firestorm with her recent comments about Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender and accused sex trafficker.

During Wednesday’s episode of her self-titled podcast Kelly claimed that someone with knowledge of the Epstein case said he was “not a pedophile” because he was “into the barely legal type.” Epstein, who died by suicide in August 2019, was accused of trafficking and sexually abusing girls as young as 14 prior to his death.

“This person has told me from the start … that he liked 15-year-old girls,” Kelly said, leaving her source unnamed. “And I realized this is disgusting. I’m definitely not trying to make an excuse for this. I’m just giving you facts, that he wasn’t into, like, 8-year-olds.”

Kelly said she eventually began to question whether Epstein was a pedophile when Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the FBI was reviewing “tens of thousands of videos” of Epstein “with children or child pornography.”

“She’s never clarified it, I don’t know whether it’s true,“ Kelly said. ”I have to be honest, I don’t really trust Pam Bondi’s word on the Epstein matters anymore.”

Kelly added that she yet to had yet to see any victims come forth and say, “I was under 10, I was under 14 when I first came within his purview.”

“You can say that’s a distinction without a difference,” Kelly said. “I think there is a difference. There’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?

“It’s sick. Every time we start talking about Epstein, it makes your skin crawl. The whole thing is just disgusting.”

Kelly’s comments generated outrage on social media platform X.

“This is career-ending for Megyn Kelly,” posted Ally Sammarco, a Democratic strategist and consultant. 15 year olds are CHILDREN. They can’t drive. They can’t see rated R movies. But disgusting 50 year old men should be allowed to rape them? Goodbye. Forever.”

Shannon Watts, founder of non-profit Moms Demand Action, said Kelly is “using her platform and power to portray Epstein and Trump as horny men, as opposed to sexual predators or pedophiles.”

Former Democratic National Committee field director Adam Parkhomenko said Kelly’s comments were revealing.

“So Megyn Kelly is fine with pedophiles now? It’s fine to rape 15 year olds?” Parkhomenko said in a post on X. “It’s not just Trump and Epstein we’re learning about.”

Jim Stewartson, a liberal writer and co-host of the “Radicalized” podcast, was infuriated by Kelly’s remarks.

“This is one of the sickest things I’ve ever heard,” Stewartson posted on X. “Anyone going along with this attempt to normalize the worst crime imaginable has had their moral polarity inverted and is a danger to themselves and society.”
