The actor cast in the role of Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow has opened up about the upcoming sequel. Lars Eidinger recently shared his excitement and disbelief at joining the DC Universe. The German actor will play the iconic Superman villain in James Gunn’s upcoming film, making it the character’s first appearance on the big screen.

Eidinger, who is relatively new to the Hollywood blockbuster scene, recently discussed his reaction to the news. When asked if he was intimidated by the prospect of facing Superman, his response was, “No, but then I think of myself. For me, it’s a true miracle that it happened.”
He elaborated on the surreal experience of receiving the life-changing call. “And I would venture to say that every actor, every actress in Germany, there is a secret hope that one day to receive a phone call from Hollywood.” He further added, “And I always thought, I’m 50 now, I thought okay, that’s it, and it suddenly happened. And it all went relatively quickly, didn’t it? And me? Yes, I really can hardly believe it, honestly.”
The actor, known for his films like Clouds of Sils Maria and Personal Shopper, is aware that this is just the beginning of a massive undertaking. “But it’s not as if it then snap and you’re sitting on the beach in LA. First, we’ll film the movie. I’m very excited,” he added.
Furthermore, this casting is a historic moment for Superman. It will be the first time Brainiac is brought to life on the big screen. The villain is a super-genius android from the planet Colu. He is obsessed with collecting all knowledge in the universe and is known for shrinking cities and even destroying planets. Moreover, his presence in Man of Tomorrow makes for an unprecedented threat. It reportedly forces Superman to form an uneasy alliance with his arch-rival, Lex Luthor (played by Nicholas Hoult).
With production eyeing an April start and a release date set for July 9, 2027, fans won’t have to wait too long to see Eidinger’s take on the legendary villain.
