Man arrested over attack on 5 people at Hong Kong’s City University campus

Hong Kong police have arrested a man for allegedly attacking five people, including two officers, at City University after he was asked to turn down the volume on his phone.

The force said on Tuesday that a 23-year-old man surnamed Wang was arrested a day earlier in Kowloon Tong on suspicion of attacking a woman, 39, with a chair and stealing some of her cash and personal belongings.

According to local media, the suspect became agitated when the woman asked him to turn down the volume of a video playing on his phone in a campus canteen.

A canteen employee tried to intervene but hurt his nose after Wang allegedly attacked him.

Three officers arrived on the scene at around 10.30am after receiving an incident report.
