Lucid Mocks Elon Musk as Grok Names Lucid Air the Top Luxury EV [Video] – EV

Lucid Motors took an indirect swipe at Elon Musk on Friday, posting a short video that showed several artificial intelligence systems — including Musk’s own Grok — naming the Lucid Air as the best luxury electric vehicle.

The California-based EV maker shared the post on X, the social platform owned by Musk, with the caption:

“We asked AI: What’s the best luxury EV? All the smartest models pointed to one clear winner: Lucid Air. Schedule a demo drive today.”

In the accompanying 17-second clip, a search bar shows the query “What’s the best luxury EV?” before displaying answers from three AI models: ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and xAI’s Grok.

ChatGPT’s reply read, “As of 2025, most automotive experts and AI comparisons alike rank the Lucid Air as the best overall luxury EV — and for good reason.” 

Copilot described the 2025 Lucid Air as “widely considered the best luxury EV, offering unmatched range, performance and refinement.”

But it was the inclusion of Musk’s own AI system that drew attention. Grok’s answer: “The 2025 Lucid Air emerges as the overall leader. It excels in efficiency and acceleration, with a serene, high-end cabin.”

The video ended with the line, “Even AI agrees.”

The Lucid Air, the brand’s debut model, competes directly with the Tesla Model S in the luxury EV segment.

Despite none of the companies disclosing sales by model, Tesla said it produced 11,624 vehicles in the third quarter — including the Cybertruck, Model S, and Model X units.

Deliveries of those models stood at 15,933 vehicles.

Lucid, which also doesn’t disclose sales by model, fully produced 3,891 vehicles — including the Lucid Air sedan and the three-row Lucid Gravity.

Earlier this year, Tesla introduced updated versions of its flagship Model S and Model X vehicles, featuring a minor facelift but carrying a $5,000 price increase over previous models.

With the update, the EPA-rated range of the standard Model S rose slightly to 410 miles, compared with 402 miles in the previous version.
