Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the country, with countless shops and cafes to choose from – but many people turn to instant coffee to save time and money, and a Lidl product has received high praise
Lidl shoppers have heaped praise on one of the store’s in-house instant coffee products, with many claiming it’s better than a popular Nescafe creation. Coffee is a beloved beverage across the nation, with countless people getting through multiple cups per day.
Though there are a vast range of coffeehouses, shops and chains up and down the country, making a cup at home is a budget-friendly alternative for many. Finding the “best” instant coffee, for the most reasonable price, can be quite the challenge.
But discount retailer Lidl has been lauded for its Bellarom Barista Instant Coffee, which looks to have been heavily inspired by the Nescafé Azera Americano instant coffee – even down to the packaging, with both products coming in silver tins with an orange lid.
Nescafe’s premium instant coffee is made with a blend of soluble coffee and 5% finely ground roasted Arabica and Robusta beans.
It was crafted to offer coffee connoisseurs a barista-style Americano from the comfort of their own homes. But Lidl’s own version has been branded even better.
In a post on Reddit, one coffee lover asked: “Best instant coffee brand in the UK?”
One person replied: “Absolutely love the Lidl own brand version of the Nescafe Azera, it’s under 3 quid and it’s delicious”.
Another replied: “I’m pleased you have suggested that, Nescafé Azera is so expensive unless you get lucky and it’s on offer!!”
A third shared a different Lidl product: “I love Lidl’s Colombian roast. Red label. Nothing comes close”, while someone else simply added: “Lidl’s”.
In another Reddit post, people were equally enthralled with Lidl’s Azera-inspired instant coffee.
One person said: “The Lidl knock off Azera is actually nicer than the thing they copied. I regularly get it, as I tried it 1 week and found it to be nice”.
Another commented: “Have you tried the Lidl knock off Azera? I used to buy the proper stuff, then one week tried the Lidl version as somebody on here had mentioned it.
“I’ve never bought Azera since, I actually prefer the knock off, it’s nice. The Aldi one isn’t as nice, though.”
Someone else shared: “The Lidl one is just right. They do 2 different ones, there’s the orange lid one which is the Azera knock off, but then there’s another in a virtually identical tin, with a different coloured lid (blue or black) and it’s a darker roast, I didn’t really like that one. The orange lid is worth a go, though.”
It wasn’t just Lidl that received praise though. Other supermarkets, including Waitrose and Tesco, were also praised for the instant coffee on offer.
Others were especially enamoured with Marks and Spencer’s own-brand coffee. One Reddit user said: “My favourite at the moment is M&S own brand instant coffee. It’s comparable in price to others and has a nice rounded flavour.”
Another agreed: “I’m into M&S Italian blend lately.”
A third said: “I love M&S own brand gold roast”.
And another added: “M&S own brand, as usual, is consistently a good product. Not the best, but worth the price.”
