She told the audience that the Oscar winner “almost didn’t make it” to the ceremony. The setup led into a punchline referencing DiCaprio’s widely discussed stay aboard Bezos’ $250 million yacht. Handler reminded the audience that he had been photographed days earlier off St. Barts.
Handler then leaned into the 51-year-old’s reputation for supporting environmental causes. She quipped that being “trapped on a boat in St. Barts” was reminiscent of “Titanic.” “But worse… because Jeff Bezos was there,” she added. The joke drew loud laughter from the room. Meanwhile, DiCaprio reacted with a shy smile as cameras cut to him in the audience.
