DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — A new cafe is now open in the River City, offering smoothies, sandwiches and coffee throughout the day.
Located on Sandy Court in Danville, Kate’s Cafe has a wide variety of food and drinks, including acai bowls, coffee, sandwiches and more. Owner Kate Ortega, who comes from the restaurant industry, said she wanted to create a more laid-back place where customers can move at their own pace.

“A cafe you can feel comfortable, feel safe and feel like you can just get up and order more again. Get another fresh cup of coffee, sit down and be there for hours and not be disturbed by nobody,” Ortega said.
Ortega said this week is the cafe’s soft opening, and the business plans to hold its grand opening on Monday, February 16.
