Original (Feb. 2, 2026): FX has released the official trailer for Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. The limited series will chronicle the tragic romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, one of the highest-profile relationships of the 1990s.
In Love Story, newcomer Paul Kelly plays JFK Jr., the son of President John F. Kennedy, while Sarah Pidgeon portrays Bessette. “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette charts the complex and heartbreaking journey of a couple whose private love became a national obsession,” FX’s logline reads.

What happens in the Love Story trailer?
“John F. Kennedy Jr. is considered America’s most eligible bachelor,” a voiceover states in the trailer. The footage previews the courtship between JFK Jr. and Bessette, which came with its own problems, mainly due to Kennedy’s media notoriety. The relationship would eventually end in tragedy, with both Kennedy and Bessette dying in a plane crash in July 1999.
“It’s not a question if of if I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” Bessette tells Kennedy. “It’s a question of if I’m cut out to be ‘Mrs. JFK Jr.’”
“It was a love story that captured the attention of the nation: John F. Kennedy Jr. was the closest thing to American royalty. The country watched him grow from a boy to a beloved bachelor and media sensation. Bessette was a star in her own right. Fiercely independent and with a singular style, she rose from being a sales assistant to an executive at Calvin Klein and became a trusted confidante of its eponymous founder. John and Carolyn’s connection was immediate, electric, and undeniable. As their love story unfolded on a national stage, the intense fame and media attention that came along with it threatened to rip them apart.”
Love Story also stars Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein, Leila George as Kelly Klein, Sydney Lemmon as Lauren Bessette, and Constance Zimmer as Ann Marie Messina.
Connor Hines created Love Story, which is inspired by Elizabeth Beller’s book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Ryan Murphy executive produces alongside Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Connor Hines, Eric Kovtun, Nissa Diederich, Scott Robertson, Monica Levinson, Kim Rosenstock, D.V. DeVincentis, Tanase Popa, and Max Winkler.
Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette premieres February 12 on FX. It will stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
