A familiar reunion could be on the cards this summer as Jadon Sancho is reportedly attracting interest from former club Borussia Dortmund.
According to reports from Sky Sports, the Bundesliga side are exploring the possibility of bringing the English winger back to Signal Iduna Park once again.
Dortmund’s renewed interest is largely linked to the expected departure of Julian Brandt.
The attacking midfielder, who has spent seven seasons with the German club, is set to let his contract expire this summer in search of a new challenge abroad.
Brandt has reportedly turned down previous approaches from England and is now open to opportunities outside Germany, with clubs in Spain — including FC Barcelona — viewed as possible destinations.
His exit would leave a sizeable creative gap in Dortmund’s attack.
Sancho’s Dortmund Legacy
Sancho previously became one of the most exciting young players in Europe during his first spell with Dortmund.
After joining from Manchester City’s academy in 2017, he developed into a Bundesliga star before completing a €85 million move to Manchester United in 2021.
However, his time in England has been inconsistent.
Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan during the second half of the 2023–24 season, where he briefly rediscovered some of the form that made him such a fan favourite.
Free Transfer Makes Deal Attractive
The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Aston Villa but is not expected to receive a new contract at Manchester United, meaning he could become a free agent this summer.
That scenario makes him a financially appealing option for Dortmund, especially if he is willing to accept a reduced salary to revive his career.
Sancho has already experienced multiple loan spells in recent years, including one at Chelsea FC, who reportedly paid a £5 million penalty to avoid triggering a £25 million obligation to buy clause and send him back to Old Trafford.
While questions remain over how Sancho would fit into the system of Dortmund coach Niko Kovac, his history with the club — combined with his availability on a free transfer — could make another reunion a tempting option.
