The Duffer Brothers recently guested on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they unveiled an exclusive clip from the upcoming Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2. This clip revealed how Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers, who gained powers in Vol 1, could destroy Vecna. Notably, Will and Vecna’s conflict is one of the core plot elements of the mystery sci-fi thriller series. The importance of Will and Vecna’s conflict was emphasized in Season 5 Vol 1’s opening, which showed a flashback detailing the pair’s first encounter.
Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 clip teases plans to kill Vecna
The Duffer Brothers recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they discussed Stranger Things‘ massive yet unexpected success and the various fan theories that have been floating around online. The brothers and the talk show host also played a fun game, teasing Season 5’s ending, where they arranged Funko Pops in certain positions.
Fallon later rolled a special, never-before-seen clip from Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2.
The clip shows Joyce Byers discussing a plan to kill Vecna with Will, Mike, Lucas, Erica, Robin, and Murray. Joyce tells the others that they should get Will close to the Hive Mind and have him “jack back in.” She stresses that this time, instead of killing the Demogorgon, Will kills Vecna and the latter’s army with “one blow.” After telling them her plan, Joyce asks for feedback and ideas.
After some momentary silence, an unsure Robin replies, telling Joyce that she has a great plan before turning to Murray and asking him what he thinks. Murray also agrees, albeit with some hesitation. Robin then turns to Will and asks him if he took out the Demogorgon that threatened her, Mike, and Lucas at the end of Volume 1 with his mind. Before Will can reply, Mike mentions that the former took out three Demogorgons. This starts a quick conversation about Will’s powers before a frustrated Joyce asks the group to focus.
Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 premieres on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Then, the finale will air on December 31, 2025.
