A World War II British grenade was discovered on Wednesday morning in Aberdeen Country Park, Hong Kong, according to police.
The Model 36M grenade, measuring about four inches long and 2.5 inches in diameter, was found by staff from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department as they were filling a hole along a walking path.
A police spokeswoman said officers from the explosive ordnance disposal bureau handled the grenade safely with no injuries.
No evacuation was necessary, though officers cordoned off areas within a 100-metre (328 feet) radius during the operation.
In November, another suspected wartime bomb – measuring 30cm by 7cm (11.8 by 2.8 inches) – was unearthed at a construction site at Hong Kong International Airport. It was detonated after about four hours, with police evacuating 900 people from the area.
